Forgotten Jungle is a piece in a 7-part rondo form (ABACABA), scored for Oboe, French Horn, Cello, and Marimba. The theme (A section) occurs four times and is different each time. The first three times, the melody is played by a different instrument every occurrence. The last time, it is completely harmonically transformed. The contrasting sections (B and C) are completely different in feel, pace, and harmony for a refreshing change. The title of this piece is based on the sounds that this unique chamber ensemble produces, and the range of colors that it achieves. This piece was written as a final project for a composition class and had specific requirements for form, instrumentation, and other factors.
